Just keep on running. Keep on moving. Don't look back. Don't listen. Forget them. Forget everything. Just keep on going.
The sun burned down upon his black mane as he ran though he dared not stop to rest just in case he lost the rhythm he had worked so hard at keeping from the very beginning. It was unlike him to run away. In fact it was so unlike him that even he was doubting his sanity but as he thought it through it all made sense. Demon had almost let himself fall in love. The thought alone made him shiver with disgust and as he went he couldn't help but feel angry at the mare. He should have ripped her to shreds as soon as he felt the stiff muscles of his heart begin to loosen but no, he had only realized just before it was too late and now he had nothing! No slaves, no guards, nothing. Maybe the more loyal would follow his scent but he highly doubted that.
It was then he decided to look up from the continuous movement of his hooves and to his surprise the lands had changed quite dramatically. No longer was he surrounded by the desert he had thought he would succumb to. Instead he was in a forest of sparse, grey trees that twisted and turned towards the sky. Looking around in wonder, Demon moved forwards taking care in noting his surroundings. It did not take long to see that it was not just the trees that were here but much more. The deeper he trotted into these lands, the thicker the forest got and soon bramble bushes began to appear, at first sparse like the trees as he had first saw them but suddenly they grew in number and Demon found it difficult to even get past. The ground was never flat and it soon became clear that this land was perilous but in his eyes nothing was going to defeat him now.
As soon as he saw the trees begin to thin, he rushed forwards adding a few more scratches to his already heavily scarred flank but he was much too focused on the beautiful sight in front of him to care. Long green expanses of grass stretched out before him only halted by the harsh forest he had come through which surrounded the grand meadow on all sides. Lifting his head, Demon let out a booming whinny which echoed across the meadow but no reply came.
He could start again. He had another chance to make the army he had dreamed of. This was the place which could change everything. Letting a chuckle escape his lips, he began to gallop round the edge of the meadow all the while crying to the heavens in some type of furious triumph. "I claim this land! It's food, it's strength and it's potential are now all mine!" Slowing to a trot, he lifted his head and felt a manic joy overtake him as he hissed out the last few words of his claim. "And it shall be Niaphell"
