There was something about this land that seemed so simple yet, beautiful at the same time. The rolling moors were peet logged and fragrant, the long sparse grass rose to brush gently against my hide, as tender as a lover. The ground, carpeted in lusterous lavender gave off the calming scent that I loved from my home. This is what had drawn me here, the familiarity of the colour, the fresh smell of lavender had always assulted my nose and now, I had found it again.
I walked slowly, careful not to stumble on the many peet bogs that surrounded this particular area. It seemed so strange that such beauty could bloom in the midst of such bleakness. I wandered for a long time, searching, even hoping that I would find others of my kind. But my search was futile, there were no equine's here other than myself. A spark came to my chocolate eyes. So...this land has no leader, how could it? There is nothing here to lead!....but, I could change that, I could turn this place around and poopulate this land with beautiful equines, equines that needed sanctuary.
Sanctuary, yes, many would need that these days. I had heard that a plague had swept through the ranks here, killing quickley and without mercy. Those who survived were forced from their homes to wander aimlessly in the wilds. I could provide a haven for them. The grass here was sparse, but I scented new, lush grass just over the brow of the next hill. With excitment coursing through my veins I cantered to the top of the small rise, what greeted me was a wonder to behild.
There, a small river wound it's way sluggishley through the reed covered hillocks, grass, as fresh as mountain dew grew in small patches, but stretched as far as I could see. Far in the distance the cloud covered peeks of mountains rose. What a strange land this was, it seemed to consist of everything that a horse would need. A grin spread across my face, my black mane whipped my face and neck as a gust of wind blew from behind, bringing with it the sweet scent of the lavender fields just beyond this hill.
My own escape from my overpowering parents had lead me here, to this perfect heaven that I vowed then and there to tend and make thrive. I giggled, a small girlie laugh that was carried away by the blowing wind, I couldn't quite believe my luck.
"Welcome you're new Mistress Lavender Moors. I will treat you well, as I will any slave that enters these borders."
I felt silly speaking to the land, but I was so overwhelmed that I needed to express my self to something. My work here would be tough, but I would endure, I was strong and quite capable to take on this task. Bring it on!
Lavender Moors
A sparse border surrounds these lands. Peet bogs litter the ground, making it trecherous for those who are not aware of this. But deeper into the land the ground is covered with the sweet scented lavender flower, it's aroma drifts throughout the land. Those who reside in Lavender Moors will always carry that sweet scent with them, no matter where they go. Beyond the lavender fields flows a small, slow river. Here the grass grows sweet and plentiful. Further North a small range of mountains reach high into the sky, the tops of which are often shrouded in clouds.
