Elinore Elinore's now clean form, thanks to Elle, walked through the misty forest. Her head was down almost touching the ground, and if you listened very closely you could hear a soft, Plop, Plop, the sound of dripping tears hitting the hard earth, coming from sorrowful hazel eyes. Feathered white and black legs made there way steadily through the thick forest. Eli payed no attention to her surroundings. She was confused and distressed. She had found no kindness ever since entering this strange land and after Darkness she had never expected to find anything even akin to kindness, but then she had found the kind medicine horse and she had treated her wounds and cared for her. Dirty, rude, Eli, the mare didn't know it was possible. Oh, sure maybe before all this mess when she had lived free and happy with her mother in their wandering Gypsy herd, but now she had allowed Darkness to turn her into a gloomy creature, who scared away everyone. Elinore just couldn't understand, and this made her cry, to think of the kind touch Elle had bestowed on her. But now that Eli was gone from her calming presence she felt the overbearing darkness close in on her, and she was afraid. Yes, she a beautiful, powerful, strong Gypsy Vanner was scared. And this made her cry all the more. A noise from a dark shadow alerted Eli to another animal's presence. Her regal head now raised upright her thick mane covering her gorgeous hazel eyes also covering all evidence of tears she cried out,
"Who's there?!?"
Her pelt quivered with the suppressed urge to flee, all the while her mind was rebuking her for once again not paying attention to her surrounding. Her long legs pranced side from side ready at any moment to flee from her dark surroundings. Looking about frantically she saw all her surroundings were dark and in her mind's eye she saw a huge dark figure with glowing red eyes lunge at her and bite her. She quivered on the ground now, her eyes glazed and unseeing. She heard his whisper in her ear,
Do you fear the dark?
Eli's wordless whimpers were heard throughout the forest, her eyes unseeing. She was vulnerable and friendless, a battered individual left hapless on the side of the rode, but through all the turmoil words of song came to Elinore's mind, a song of hope. Alone in the night, Helpless and fearful, I will hold tight, To the One that can see All the Troubles, and Trials, and the Love I will find. Right now I have Sorrow and Suffering as mine companions, But on the morrow I will rejoice, For they will turn into Peace and Joy! Elinore's breathing slowed. She was lying on the ground and still scared, but maybe she could find a way through the hard times. Maybe there was hope. For; Open('cept Darkness please kthanx) Word Count; 553. Muse Level; Eh... (Mind if I pop in? The territory was usually full of sounds; whimpering, howls, groaning and an odd buzzing silence... but this sobbing and whimpering was different. It was fresh and close by. The midnight Buck stopped in his mild ambling and raised his skull, auds perked and scanning like a radar for the source of the sobs. There were heavy footfalls near by, so it was obviously an Equine. By the pitch of the sobs, it was also a Mare... this was not her home if she was sobbing so. Yet, curiosity took over and Pinto made his way a little further between the needle-like thorns and dusty, misty undergrowth. His black form was hazed by the mists but stood out well against the dim background. His pitch pools searched for the shifting black and white feathered figure thudding dolefully away. He did not recognise this creature, but he did not wish to see her upset without due reasoning... and he was a fair amount bored. "M'lady... why are you crying?" he asked in his cold and low but not harsh voice. He stood a front flint forward of the other but remained behind the Dame, awaiting a response if there was to be one. As he waited his tassel tickled his hind joints and thigh, brushing at the scar running down his right blade. This was matched at the front by the wound inflicted by the Lord of the lands, Fear of Darkness. He now admired the Master further; it was sort of an unknown inspiration, but a meeting with Heathen King had not wanted him to disobey any time soon. Being part thoroughbred and Friesian, Pinto was of a delicate shape standing at an average height of 15.3 hands. The Gypsy Vanner was of a rounder build to him and possibly a hand or so taller. They were very powerful Equines, he knew that much, but he was never entirely sure of their appearance having never really met one up close before.

Elle Qui Demanders Hush, little baby... The sounds of muffled sobs echoed throughout Eerie Caverns, bouncing off of trees and rocks along the way to the sensitive twin towers of Elle. Who could that be? I wonder what's wrong... The young mare took a few moments to swallow the small bits of greenish-brown grass that she had been munching on only a heartbeat ago before straightening up to her full height, which wasn't really all that tall for her breed.
Feeling light on her feet because of her recent success as current medicine horse, which just so happened to be healing the horrible wounds that Fear of Darkness had inflicted upon Elinore, Elle Qui Demanders briskly moved throughout the terrain of the cruel stallion's lands. He wasn't as cruel as one would take him to be, though, now that Elle had a chance to actually think about it. He had freed all of his slaves and given them a chance to prove themselves as free equines; true, a select two, one beling Eli, had become broodmares, and the lead brute had injured several of them within the first few days of their life here in Eerie Caverns, but it wasn't all that bad; those very few minor incidents were really nothing compared to what life could quite possibly have been should they all have remained slaves to the cruel-hearted Fear of Darkness.
The mare was getting closer now, and was able to pick up the sounds of crying even more than before; there was no doubt in her very much filled mind that it was Elinore. She couldn't have re-opened her wounds, could she? No... Elle didn't think so; so far, Eli had proven herself to be the kind of horse who would not start bawling her eyes out because of a few injuries. There must be something else wrong -- it must be something reallly quite bad to make the vix cry like she was doing so right then and there.
Elle was about to open her mouth and call out to the mare in distress when another voice filled her her auds. It was definitely the masculine sort, so it was obvious that its owner was a stallion.
"M'lady... why are you crying?"
An unfamilliar scent roughtly shoved itself within the caverns of Elle's pink nose. A newcomer? No. As she got closer, the fem with the slightly-more-than-average looks opened her eyes to a new horse. She remembered seeing him at the 'cremony,' if you could even call it that; he was told then that he was going to be trained to join Fear of Darkness's army. Kieve? Raphael? No... Pinto.
With nearly no effort at all, Elle Qui Demanders launched herself over a fallen tree stump and landed a few feet away from Pinto, where she firmly planted herself, a gentle, motherly-like smile present on her face. With a nod in the higher ranked stallion's direction, she focused on the gypsy vanner lying right there, on the ground, in front of her, crying quite hard the entire time.
"Dearest Elinore... whatever is the matter? Why are you crying so?"
For one who had just met her, they would probably think that the way she spoke to Elinore was a c.cky sort of way; a sign of arrogance, perhaps. However, she was far from that. Because she had once asked so many questions throughout her free -- and even enslaved -- life, Elle had developed a most sophisticated vocabulary and never hesitated to use it, especially when it was necessary, like at this particular moment.
Warm pools sparkled warmly at her former patient as she patiently waited for a response to her two-in-one kind of question. If there was anything at all that she could do to help Eli get through this time of great unpleasantness, then by lord she would do it. Elle was not the type of horse to watch another equine suffer like Eli was now without even lifting as much as a hoof to offer help. What's wrong?...Don't you cry

Elinore Lifting herself gently from the ground Elinore nodded toward Elle and the other male. She didn't know who he was but he seemed kind. Her face was now dry and her face actually glowed from hope. She would never forget the words that had been spoken to her. Her pride everything had been stripped from her and now she knew she was stronger and better for it.
It's nothing kind sir, and Elle, I'm so sorry for running off without thanking you!
She walked closer to the other horse and smiled, she was already so much more different than the horse she was before. Sure nothing had really changed, but she knew she could get through it. ((ooc. Eww! Sorry for the lame post guys, and also sorry for the wait.))

Pinto nodded and allowed the other mare to converse with the one upon the ground. She obviously knew her previous to this meeting. Tossing his skull, he listened to the soft vocals of the one that had once been sobbing as well as the clear and well pronounced tones of the standing mare. The prance with which the Angel known as Elle had cleared the fallen tree trunk was graceful and impressive, but this was not commented upon by the Buck.
He was a little taken aback by the nod he was given by Elle, but that had soon reminded him of his newly received rank within the lands. It was going to be some getting used to, but he would strive to do his best.
It's nothing kind sir, and Elle, I'm so sorry for running off without thanking you!
He nodded again, bowing his skull so that his veil fell about his nares. His pools were shut away for the duration but reopened as he righted his posture. "As you wish m'lady." he added, twitching his thoroughbred snout while his Friesian ankle bangles shook and tickled the mist about his flints. His tassel swirled the cool air as well.

Elle Qui Demanders Forgive me... "It's nothing kind sir, and Elle, I'm so sorry for running off without thanking you!"
"As you wish, M'lady."
The lyrics of two completely different horses echoed one at a time throughout the small clearing and entered the sensitive twin towers of the mare standing only a few feet away. With a bright smile and slight shrug of her shoulders, Elle responded in that brisk, clear tone of hers.
"It's not a problem at all, Elinore. You needn't worry about it any longer."
Her lyrics were both firm but gentle in the same manor; she did not want her only true friend feeling guilty because she made a very minor mistake by not thanking her for her assistance; it really was not a big deal.
Elle Qui Demanders used her tail to slap at a pesky fly buzzing around her hindquarters like the irritating pest that it really was. Then, she nodded in Eli's direction and turned back to look at the stallion standing a few yards away from her, looking curiously in her direction. Do I have a spider crawling around between my eyes without my knowledge? She really didn't need to ask herself such a stupid question like that, but Elle was feeling an unusual burst of humor, something that didn't occur very often. However, it didn't last very long, because with a single toss of her head, any temptation to start cracking lame jokes disappeared; why was she so goofy all of the sudden, anyway? It was so uncharacteristic!
A moment later, Elle turned her nicely-shaped her head in Pinto's direction, smiling and looking into his eyes without looking away, something that not many mares had the courage to do, especially towards a stallion that they had just met. That was just part of her personality, though; the vix was just one of those kind of equines who didn't usually feel any sort of nervousness around a new figure unless, of course, her life was on the line, or anything else like that, for that matter. However, since she wasn't in any danger, Elle was her usual confident self, though it was not to ever be mixed up with c.ckiness, because she was a down-to-earth kind of girl. With a smile and a few paces forward, Elle opened her mouth to speak.
"Forgive me for not introducing myself earlier, sir. I'm Elle Qui Demanders, or Elle for short."
To be one hundred percent honest with you, Elle was really half expecting the brute horse to lash out at her with some harsh remark like Fear of Darkness had the instant the two had met, and she was quite surprised when he didn't. After a minute or two of silence, she smiled yet again and adressed Pinto.
"Now that you know who I am, I'd be very appreciative to know what your calling is." ...for being so rude

Elinore Eli let her hazel eyes wander back and forth between the male and Elle. She felt so safe around the mare she didn't know why. She felt like a little filly again with no pre-conceived notions or fears really of any sort. She relaxed her body and closed her eyes but when Elle introduced herself she thought she should too.
Yes, and I am Elinore but I prefer Eli.
Her black fruzzy hair hung heavily on her neck and covered her eyes. It was clean at the moment unlike earlier before she had met Elle. Eli had been in such a state that she hadn't washed for some time. She was a pretty girl in a weird witchy kind of way, and had that kind of humor. She used to love to make people laugh. Now she would probably just want to hide in a hole.

"Forgive me for not introducing myself earlier, sir. I'm Elle Qui Demanders, or Elle for short."He watched the conversation continue before it turned to himself. Pinto shifted a hoof and swished his tail to attack an imposing fly. "It's a pleasure, Elle." he bowed his skull, nares lowering to chest level and auds pricked politely. His voice was cold and deep, but welcoming and clear. He returned to standing properly as the dame spoke again. "Now that you know who I am, I'd be very appreciative to know what your calling is."A smirk edged at his maw as he replied, "Of course m'lady... I am Pinto," he tilted his head and allowed his pools to wander over the femme's features. He then turned his gaze to the first mare whom had introduced herself second. Yes, and I am Elinore but I prefer Eli."A pleasure once again, Eli," he inclined his skull to her as well. Both were attractive mares with very similar names, he added mentally. His pitch canvas was cold and unwelcoming compared to their delicate feminine form. He ensured that he was half way between the girls so as to be polite and a proper gentleman. (Sorry, my muse has gone )

Elle Qui Demanders Ah... The mare dipped her head once more in the much larger stallion's direction as he opened his mouth to speak, first to her, and then to Eli.
"It's a pleasure, Elle. Of course, m'lady.... I am Pinto. A pleasure once again, Eli."
Pinto. So that's who he was. Elle had had a hunch that Pinto was his name, but, of course, a mar could never be one hundred percent positive about anything. Now that she had his name, she knew exactly who he was, at least in the hierarchy of Fear of Darkness's herd.
"Ah... Pinto. I thought that that was who you are. Congratulations on your gain in rank; I'm sure that you will do quite well as Beta."
She smiled and allowed her eyes to look him over for a few brief heartbeats; well muscled with the same tough bodice as her friend, Elinore. A dangerous opponent in battle. Any horse would have to be careful not to get on Pinto's nerves, for Elle Qui Demanders had no trouble at all in seeing that even Fear of Darkness could be easily defeated by this brute should he ever be angered.
It only took the vix a moment or two to become almost shy under the watchful eye of the newcomer. As used to stallions as she was, it always made her nervous when one looked her over. After one had once attempted to rape her, Elle was now quite wary around them, but not enough for it to ever become visible. However, something deep down within herself told the pretty bay mare that Pinto could be trusted.
A hushed silence soon engulfed the three equines, but it took hardly a heartbeat for a talkative vixen such as Elle to break it, smiling like she had done before.
"Now that we all know who we all are, I personally would love to hear what you both think of life here in Eerie Caverns so far. Would you mind sharing with me?"
That same patient and understanding glow came to Elle's warm brown eyes as she eagerly awaited Pinto's and Eli's response; she could pretty much guess that Elinore was just going to say that it could be better in a somewhat bitter tone, but the stallion... well, he was a different story. After all... they had only just met, and Elle could not yet tell what was going on inside his head. ...Now I know your true identity ooc: it suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks... *wants to prove to Lugu that she chose right*

Elinore Elinore lowered her head her frizzy mane flopping crazily over her head. She was ashamed to answer Elle's question and she now realized that the beta of Eerie Caverns had seen her in such an awful state. If she could have blushed she would have but her spotted white and black pelt would not do such a thing. Shifting nervously on her hoofs she wondered how she would answer. The truth was she didn't quite know how she felt here, she was so confused her emotions storming inside her like a hurricane. She raised her head her mane still covering her stunning hazel eyes that few ever saw. Right now if one could see them they would look a bit frightened and very confused. Finally gathering her courage she managed to speak stumbling over her words embarrassing herself more,
I have been mistreated here, and I have been treated kindly. My world was turned upside down and I know not what to think. My only wish before was to escape, and I think I still wish for that. For the rank Darkness has pinned me with could allow much evil to happen to me. And I fear that my spirit is forever tormented by this place, this evil that permeates the air, and I just don't know what to do...
This rather long speech was agonizing for the once outgoing mare. It was pitted with many pauses and stumbles as Elinore searched for the perfect words. And yet still she did not feel like she communicated with them correctly. Hanging her head once more in fear and shame her heavy mane draped across her strong, smooth neck she knew if Pinto were a good Beta he would take her to Darkness right now and report her treasonous thoughts. Her body trembled with fear as she thought of facing Darkness once more. But the faint words of the song came back to her and she stopped the visible trembles and though she still felt fear she thought she could cope.
^Whatchoo mean Anger?^^^^

"Ah... Pinto. I thought that that was who you are. Congratulations on your gain in rank; I'm sure that you will do quite well as Beta."
He inclined his head once more, tilting it a little as he replied politely to Elle Qui Demanders, "Thank you Elle, I shall strive to do my best for the herd," this was more of a time filling response. He was a little out of place with two mares he had only just met; one had been crying and the other had appeared and introduced both of them to him in a way. Elle seemed to change her stance as he introduced himself; he wasn't fierce or daunting, he would not burst into a raging fury like Darkness... but he had certainly had some of his intolerance rubbed off onto him.
"Now that we all know who we all are, I personally would love to hear what you both think of life here in Eerie Caverns so far. Would you mind sharing with me?"
It was an intriguing question posed by Elle Qui Demanders, but it was quickly answered, almost reluctantly, by Eli in a sorrowful tone of confession.
"My dear Eli, how was it that you came to be here if this is not your idea of comfort?" he pushed forward and tilted his head in question, his veil of plumage swaying about his arch and thorns pricking into the air and twisting now and then. His jugular pulsed ever so slightly visibly while both of the scars upon his right thighs, one upon each, casting tiny shadows below them. "If you do not find it welcoming, then you have been strong in staying for so long." he added, shaking his skull as he pulled it back to its normal position above his shoulder blades. His cords swished at the misty grounds as he blinked in silence.
