Hundreds of years ago, man and beasts lived in peace, each helping the other. Some animals pledges their service to the humans, helping with hunting and farming. In return, they were provided with shelter, food, and love. However, not every species agreed with this tradition. A few had no services to give, their talents were meant only to help their kind, and others were too independent or cold-hearted to see the benefit of such bondage. Over time, those who remained separate from man became jealous of him. They saw what friendship he had with other beasts, and how willingly they served him. At first, they only nursed their hatred, bottling it up, but soon their hearts were gripped with the black desire and spite and a meeting of all animals was called.
Being the most free-spirited species, the wolves lead the great council. They hated the humans most out of all the kinds, for some of their own had even gone to live happily with them. The comfortable and joyous life those few led stirred the free canines into a raging storm. At the very head of the group was a white wolf named Makar. For his unusual coat and persuasive nature, he was revered by the other animals. He called out to all that had come and bade them to rise up against the enemy: man.
Many rejected his proposal, man had always treated them well, why make trouble? Still he pressed them though, but they would not bend. Discouraged, the council scattered, now content to go back to their former lives. All but Makar. He was fueled by the failure, convinced that the humans must have some knowledge that he did not possess, some magic that he needed. Assuming the role of spy, he watched the humans, marking everything they did. After weeks of observation, he concluded that they’re secrets must be inside their books: the item most sacred to them. No beast had ever look inside a book, the workings of the great human civilization must be contained in side the coverings.
Guided by this information, Makar stole all ten of man’s most valuable writings, the volumes that contained every piece of their wisdom and knowledge. When the humans found their books missing and wolf prints everywhere, they demanded that the canines give back their writings. Makar had told no one of his plans, though, and disappeared into the mountains afterward; not another soul knew what he had done. The wolves protested that they had never laid a paw on the books, and soon the argument escalated beyond control. War began, and every beast was targeted, even those who had become friends with man were suddenly enemies. Many died on the battlefield, human and beast alike and it seemed that both races would become extinct.
During this time Makar was not idle. He had busied himself with learning the secrets of civilization, along with the secrets of the Earth. Unbeknownst to any living being, an uninhabited island, large enough to support thousands of people, lay in a far-off ocean. But it was not people Makar was interested in the island for. It was lush and filled with amazing fruits and plants and small animals ran there in abundance, perfect for any beast. Thrilled with his discovery, Makar gathered the animals, beaten and broken after so many battles, and told them that he had learned the knowledge of the humans, and had found an island where they might live. Tired of the warfare, most agreed to move to the new land. Some declined, not wishing the leave their birthplace and eager to reconcile with the humans. Almost sorry for what he had caused, Makar returned the books, which he had memorized.
Everything in place, Makar used his new knowledge to teach the animals how to build boats, using each species abilities to put it together. As soon as it was finished, those who chose to go, mostly wolves, set sail, bound for their new home. The weather was kind to them and they reached the island safely. When he set foot on the island, Makar promoted himself to king, backed by almost ever animal there. He christened the island Karadia and established an hierarchy, wolves and their cousins coming first, with other species following in no particular order. This enraged the other kinds, but they could do nothing against the mighty force of all the canines. Cities and packs were created, all with wolves at the lead, and all kinds flourished.
For hundreds of years, the hierarchy has been followed and the wolves have always governed the land. Every kind has lived in submission to them, and Makar fairly worshiped by all. Karadia seemed to be a peaceful and trouble-free nation, but the other species have never lost the anger they felt, it has only been quieted. Some say that change is coming, the rage will finally be released and the wolves will have to accept the others as equals. The wolves have ruled since the beginning, however, and they have become to comfortable to give up their position. Do you support the wolves, leaders appointed by Makar, or do you wait with another species, readying yourself to fight? If rebellion comes, what side will you fight with? Choose wisely, for you could hold the fate of Karadia.
