Spring air....cool forest.....earth slightly damp from a recent rain....the air fresh with moisture..... The lake rippled gently from the waterfalls on the north-east shore.
A lone set of eyes and a single black snout observed these changes with a lazy gaze, the cool black pupils absorbing the light and darkness and turning them into sharp outlines and colours better than any human could dream of; perhaps even horsekind couldn't properly understand the brilliant hues the carnivor saw as he stepped elegantly through the cool forests of his homeland.
His carefree step and calm eye gave the roan-and-white wolf the appearance of a young wanderer to the casual observer's sight. That casual observer would be right: the wolf was barely 4 years old but ready to settle and, perhaps, find some others to share a packland with. Not too many others, of course. Shiranui wasn't a particularily social wolf; he would prefer to know that a small pack would answer a call than that around the hill might ten others wait. Pups were a different matter, he loved children, but that was a long way off from this beautiful spring day.
Wandering the proud forest with a keen eye snapping up every detail, Shiranui finally rested atop a small mountain surrounded by other hills that created a valley between them. He stood at the highest point in the northeast next to the waterfall that crashed down into the clear lake and from this vantage point he could see the surrounding hills and his own mountain, all of which were covered in a lush forest. The lake below him rippled with the impact of the ever-rushing waterfall and his keen eyes picked out a meadow in the true north of the valley.
This place will do nicely, the sleek wolf thought with a decisive nod. This will do nicely indeed. Coming down off his mountain like a king from his throne, Shiranui moved on to fully explore the newly-named Yuurin.
Description:
Yuurin, which means Deep Forest, lives up to it's name. It is a small patch of lowland in a mountainous region and except for the area around the lake in the northwest and a small meadow in the true north it is completely covered in a mighty forest. The trees range from ancient to new-growth and the landscape is generally quite beautiful, especially when seen from the highest mountain, which the waterfall originates from.[/blockquote]
