Alone. Alone. Alone. These days Phantom was always alone. Not because she went out of her way to avoid company, but because nobody was around. Really. The white mare trotted daintily down a rocky, steep path, swishing her tail and occasionally uttering a high-pitched neigh in the hope of attracting somebody's attention. The answering calls she heard were only echoes of her own. She was alone, and that didn't suit Phantom well at all. It was days since she'd last stopped to talk to somebody. Oh, how she yearned for company! Perhaps a mare, ugly compared with her, Phantom, and not really worthy of attention, but nonetheless capable of speech.
The white mare's diamonds made a loud clopping noise against the rocky floor of the canyon. She tossed her head, and something caught her eye. A stream. Clean, fresh water. Phantom made a beeline for it, but kept her guard up even as she stepped into the rushing water and lowered her head to drink. The tips of her tresses touched the stream, the current making them wave to and fro, resembling white algae. The only sounds the mare could hear were those made by the water running downstream and birds somewhere nearby. That was all. She straightened up, auds swivelling from left to right and back again, but there was nothing else, no wind, no rustling grass, nothing. The silence was so intense it was almost painful.
Phantom was feeling pretty uncomfortable. But looking uncomfortable, that was a different thing altogether. Different, sad and pathetic. No, the mare's expression betrayed no awkwardness, no anxiousness at all. Indeed, she might have been back home in her herd's lands, judging by the way her lips were curled into a conceited smile, and her tail was lifted arrogantly.

Demon trotted on the steep rocky pass not noticing the rocks tumbling down as he trotted by. Hearing a niegh he galloped over to where it was. Seeing a white mare he walked over to her. "Hello" he said. "I am Demontor though you may call me Demon" He said that like it was a privelage to say his name. "And you are Miss" Demon asked his dark amber eyes fixed on the white mare.

Phantom smiled to herself. The chestnut stallion was very, very welcome. Oh, it was so nice to hear another horse's voice! She'd started to fear she was the only one left. Then again, there was a plausible explanation for the absence of equines in the canyon: there were no free horses left. All of them made slaves? Phantom sniffed disapprovingly. What on earth was she expected to do to pass the time from now on?
"Why would I wish to call you Demon?" laughed the white mare, turning to face the stallion. Slowly and elegantly, she stepped out of the water, but not on Demontor's side of the stream, oh no. The stream she kept between them. For all the mare knew, Demontor might have been a slave-trader who wanted nothing more than to catch her and sell her. "It's such a frightening name," Phantom continued, smiling flirtatiously. "I'll be quite happy to use your full name, Demontor." She pranced around on the spot, for it was the perfect way to show herself off, and that was what Phantom knew how to do best. "As for me," she addressed the stallion again. "My sire blessed me Moonlight's Phantom."
OOC: Short and yucky, I'm in a dreadful hurry. ^^

Demon smirked as she walked to the other side of the stream. "Well Moonlight's Phantom" He said smiling back at her. "What are you doing out here all alone?" He watched how she was showing off. 'She really isn't that bad looking' He told himself. "And why go over to the other side of the stream" He smirked. "I do not take free-roaming mares as slaves" Swishing his tail he rested his hind leg waiting to what she would say.

"This place might be my home for some time," Phantom said, lifting her gaze to the high cliffs on either side of the stream. "It's quiet, and safe, and there is grass and water and no-one to tell me what to do." She scraped the ground with one dagger, fixing the stallion with a sly but distracted stare. The canyon truly was a good place to call home, except for the fact it was deserted. If only she could someone to stay with her, talk to her, praise her. Slaves immediately came to the mare's mind. Ah, but she wasn't a master, only a simple free-roamer. She could attempt to pass for a master, walk to the Auction Rock and come away with a slave, but what if she was caught? Phantom wouldn't make a good slave, oh no. Her lovely snow coat would turn brown with dust and dirt, her muscles ache, her lovely flowing mane become thin and tattered. No, it was just too risky.
"I don't know what you're capable of, Mr Demontor, you see," Phantom told the stallion, her black orbs bright and alert. "You say you don't take free mares as slaves. But how do I know you're who I think you are? These days it's just too dangerous to trust strangers." The mare took two steps toward Demontor. "But you look decent," she added softly. Two more steps forward, and Phantom was now back in the stream, water sloshing around her fetlocks. "I'm willing to trust you." Her hooves touched dry land and the snowy beauty drew up next to Demontor. "You may call me simply Phantom."

Demon smiled at the mare. "Alright Phantom" He leaned over and blew gently at her face. "Your trust is well placed i assure you" Flicking his ears toward his home he paused. Turning his body toward the sun he stood as still as a statue. His chestnut coat glistened and his muscles showed. Looking back at phantom he grinned at her. "Why are you not a master i could see you as one" Demon wanted to know what she would say about masters.

Phantom scanned the ground attentively before answering, searching for some clumps of very fresh, soft green grass. A bunch of little yellow flowers caught her eye, and she wandered over to the shady spot where they grew. "Me? A master?" she whinnied, her voice rich with laughter. "Somehow I can't picture myself managing a bunch of stuck-up, rebellious laves. Maybe one. Maybe two. But I get tired of people very quickly, and would soon find myself saddled with a companion I care less than nothing for. It's too much hassle for me." The mare bent her head down and nibbled on one of the yellow flowers. They were sweet and tasty, just as good as grass if not better. A light buzzing told her a fly was somewhere on her flank. A quick swish of her tail and it was gone.
"Speaking about masters, Demontor, you wouldn't happen to be one, would you?" Phantom enquired lightly, knowing very well he was. Just a few minutes earlier he'd said something about not taking free-roamers as slaves: that proved he did have slaves. It didn't matter to Phantom. Masters didn't annoy her, for she wasn't a slave and consequently had nothing to do with them .

Demontor grinned. "Of course i am" He said. He walked over to Phantom and started grazing with her. "If you want a companion im sure i could help" He looked over at her. " And if it's female companion ship you crave i have the perfect mare for you" He said. Yawning Demon laid down in the shade awaiting Phantom to either join him or to speak. Shaking out his mane he once again yawned.
