The beaten path hath offered naught but redundant grains of sand.... What was this peace that so many futile attempts did try to unveil? If one were wise, they'd realize that such does not exist, it had simply been planted within the mind by the fingers of time so that her creatures may dwell upon such incessant musings. Time...how she loved to play with the minds of her captives, one must learn to live within, not against the Time they were given to be here. Solace was not in search for peace...for that held no desire within her hardened soul. No, she was here to spark the life within herself, as it had been sleeping for many months by now. Nothing is better to awaken oneself than to stand upon the edge of death and let fate drive its course.
But...there was no fate, simply decisions within the subconscious that one may not understand. No fate, no luck, it is just life, and that is all there is to it. Her copper pelt was whipped by the winds as they pushed over the cliff face, sending her senses in a whirl. The salt tinged air fluctuated with each undulating gust, the temperature had difficulty making up its mind, and the thunderous voice of crashing waves nearly consumed her thoughts. Her lungs filled with the thick particles, her eyes and wounds stung, exposed to the elements. Yet, she felt her sleeping consciousness yawn and stretch into acute awareness.
Thirty-two loose rocks no larger than an apricot lay within twelve feet and thirteen inches from where she stood, overlooking the endless water. More intriguing were the lack of foreign scents...although most would be concealed by the stench of the sea, she would be able to pick up traces of old trails and such. This pleased her, it had been a long time since she had been free of the awareness of another's presence, although she was certain this would not last long. Her head tilted, allowing her one golden eye to take in her surroundings...the land was vast, but not so much as the rolling waves, and now she left her mind to wander the breeze so she wouldn't have to deal with its useless calculations. What next..? She cared not, what would come would come, and she would be here to face it.
...and though stumble as I stray, Life is found within the foreign land.

The [M]alice in my heart 'Malice, Malice, Malice..' The brute scolded in his mind. The dampness of the earth was not being at all kind to the alpha wolf. It had already damaged the padding on his paws by making them soft enough to split. It didn't feel at all pleasant, and he knew he didn't want them to get infect. Walking along the cliff he found a sense of peace, the rocks more or less dry so his feet could recover. His pale blue eyes watched the ocean below, what a nasty fall. He pitied any creature who's life had ended here. 'Wonder what they thought of as they were falling..' His mind trailed on around things, not paying full attention to the things around him. The only thing he consentrated on where the sounds and sight of the water crashing against jagged rocks.
An unfamiliar scent was drawn to his muzzle. He sniffed it and recognized it as a wolf, a female wolf. Turning he saw the slender form of the she-wolf a good few yards ahead of him. Stepping away from the cliff, he bound towards her, not even bothering to hide his presence. He was not here to start fights or be his usual nasty self. Malice wasn't even in the mood to crack and insult. Instead he stopped a yard or two away from the female and lifted his head high, wondering what to say. "Not exactly the best place to hang around..." He started, noting the glum of the area and it's depressing view. He really should have said nothing since he actually found this place peaceful. The sound of the water was enough to make him sleep even on the hard rocks of this place. May never fade...

And though the wind may scream and flail... She was mildly irked that the winds had been hiding various scents from her...she blew a quick puff of air upon hearing the faint click of claws upon stone near her, approximately four feet and twelve inches from where she stood. Ah, but her serene mind quickly brushed such thoughts aside...it was not this male's fault that nature had meddled with the acuteness of her senses. Before he spoke, her head had turned, tilting slightly to allow her right eye to get a better glimpse. Her ears were propped lightly atop the slope of her skull, acknowledging his presence without need for words. The rest of her frame had pivoted around a few inches so as not to strain the muscles along her neck.
She was silently still as his words rode the frazzled wind into her ears, and the sounds evoked no expression from her placid, eerie facade. It took her mind a few seconds to fall into a less spacial manner, her eye dilated slightly, focusing her thoughts and blocking out the incessant garbage filtering through her brain. Within a few moments of the end of his speech, she prepared her own, widely unused vocal chords to begin their unfamiliar vibrations.
" I suppose that depends on the personal interpretation of 'the best'.' Contrary to her stoic demeanor, her tone was light airy, and soft enough to force the opposing creature to listen closely. Her gaze drifted to eye the water, nearly grasping away her mind once more before she could pluck a few more speakable words from that mess of an organ she assumes to be her brain. " In any case, that must mean you more or less enjoy hanging around a 'lesser place,' am I mistaken?, " she mused, falling into an old pattern of personality that had become slow with lacking exercise.
...the strongest gusts might not prevail. [/blockquote]

The [M]alice in my heart Her eyes were different colors, could she possibly be blind in one? It was none of his business to what any of her ailments were. Come to think, he really didn't care. Pale blue eyes glanced off across the jagged rocks. Her words were hoarse and empty, she seemed so blank. Malice was muttled in his own pains, and the swarming mind did not help. He inhaled a large amount of air and cleared his thoughts, not wanting to tire himself out. "I guess." He agreed to her first statement, and almost smiled at her next. His dark colored pelt rippled as a small wind blew past them. "Well, only if it is as peaceful as this... slightly depressing though I must admit. The name is Malice, but call me what you will." He finished laying down to get off those paws. He could smell he blood even if it was very little. The rocks were salty and that did not feel very pleasant against the damaged pads. May never fade...

Not the strongest, nor the smartest, nor the most giving of heart... She folded her haunches underneath the bulk of her frame into a relaxed sit, showing that she was willing to stay here until this encounter came to a close. Solace was never really social, but that was not an intentional lapse in her skills, she simply never found that incessant need for company. But, she had learned that knowledge often poured from the mouths of other, and sometimes she was in need of information that she could not derive from her own mind. But sometimes...her world simply needed to expand to include another, because she often bored herself into an empty state.
" Well met, Malice. This place...-she flicked her head- is at least more pristine than the land that had been trodden one to many times, no? " Her lungs expanded with a large intake of the slated air, a slight irritation bussed within her nostrils. Within a few seconds, her features crunched inward and she turned her dial away just as she emitted a loud, jerky sneeze. With the intensity of the situation over, she glanced to the male again.. " Ah, but every serene hideaway has its downfalls.." Her lips twitched into a smirk for a few moments before falling away.
The winds voice echoed through her delicate skull, sweeping clean some of the tangled ideas that held no relevance here. " I guess one might call me Solace if they wish." She shrugged. What was in a name, really? It was just a labeling of an object, and she did not feel only as an object...but if somebody wanted to label her then so be it. She'd often taken different names in different times, and never really remembered what the original had been, or she had even been appointed one when she was young. Hmm...no matter, Solace was here name today, perhaps it would be something else tomorrow.
...yet perhaps one of the few that's made living life an art. [/blockquote]

The [M]alice in my heart Malice let his soft tongue run instinctively across his bleeding pads. He was in a rather relaxed mood now, not sensing hostility from this fae or any other creature around them. He would try not to stay here long, he had a pack after all. Being away for too long could make any other wolf get the wrong ideas. With Chained and Dew already a part of his herd, it was the least to say he had others to protect now. That little piece of information usually would have had him heading back toward his lands in a heartbeat, but his feet needed a break. He reluctantly loosened up, his muscles growing slightly limp from their usual tenseness. Being an alpha drew so many problems to mind, but he actually enjoyed all of it in the end.
His ears perked and he shook his head, "I disagree, even in the most busy of places, there is that beauty that cannot be tarnished." He said reminded of his own land. No matter how many wolves passed by that land, the trees would still make the place colorful. "That is true, I can almost smell the deaths that have already occurred here." He said feeling the coldness of the rocks seep comfortably into his fur. Solace, that was her name. A name which made her different than the trees. It was like her identity, what others knew her by if anyone. True his own name only fit his temper, but there in itself set him a part from any other wolf. "Solace, pleasure to meet you... you should visit my lands some time." He offered. May never fade...

Some say you can't have dreams and still be considered sane... It is lucky that the wolven type have no clocks to count away the time. It's ticking would be like a voice, mocking each second that one will never see again...How many hours had gone by with her mind in a numb daze was unknown to her, and to think further upon that would hold no use for the greater well being of her mood. What she had found, is that if she could be content, for even a few seconds at a time, then this life was worth something. Happiness was a whole different story, something of which was so much more rare than contentment, something that she had never experienced.
The ropes of her mind had been tied loosely during her creation, or so she had concluded, because she always had to make her mental rounds, making sure that everything remained in place, that her thoughts didn't just simply float away. It is like her mind was not tied to gravity, always pulling her head up into the clouds. It was a struggle that she had been cursed, or blessed with depending on the circumstance, and she expected that for what it was...but now she had a firm hold on her thoughts, trying to keep focus on what the male was saying.
Her head tilted, perhaps in thought, or perhaps her sight had shifted somewhat as she listened. " Well, I've never seen such a place of beauty, perhaps my blindness has seeped into my awareness." She shrugged, it was unclear whether she was joking, or dead serious, but the moment passed as she began to let her words flow once more." It never ceases to amaze me that some creatures found reason enough to erase themselves from this life, what anguish it must be to convince yourself that you are undeserving of a beating heart..." She tone faded as she watched the waves... But maybe it is peaceful,as if the ocean had called you home, to sleep within her rolling arms..." By this point she was thinking out loud...it was common for her to converse with herself when she was alone.
So he as an Alpha, she'd picked up that tinge of dominance from the get go, just another trinket of information that had sorted itself within her messy file cabinets. SO these lands of yours, Malice, what are they like? " She figured she could 'visit' his abode mentally, and let that decide what kind of sway she had toward travel or not...though her mind was an ache to her life, it often had incredible judgment.
...so crazy I will be and go dancing in the rain. [/blockquote]

The [M]alice in my heart This female was very interesting despite her seemingly blank personality and curving words. She seemed not to know of the disasters this world was slowly being sucked into. Instead resided within herself for safety and the familiarity she could be around. "I doubt it... being blind has many forms. Physically or mentally it is there. Paying attention, however, fixes many of these impaired things." He finished closing his eyes and listening to the water. How unpleasant it would feel against his feet. Still, he longed to walk on a beach. Maybe he would in the future. Simply coming here he had found near complete silence. "They could have experiences such a tragedy that they felt they couldn't or wouldn't live another moment..." He offered.
The birds in his land were constant, and only sleep could escape them during the day. He pondered his words on describing the large area he called home, "There are many trees, but enough clearings within them for sun. The air is a comfortable warm feeling unless there is wind. All the leaves are multi-colored as if it were fall. The breed of tree they are is still unknown to me, but makes the trees only more exotic. A medium sized lake provides water to all these plants. Not many rocks, and if you do see them they are rather large. At sunset the light shines through the trees making the leaves glow." He said, leaving his eyes closed. May never fade...

The ocean waves are quick to give; faster to take away... The salt content within the dancing winds had increased by nearly two percent whilst the wolves had been here, perhaps a few larger waves broke the barrier previously set by their vicious cousins..Her eye was beginning to feel the sting of the substance, blinking a few times to allow her own salted substance to replace that of the atmosphere's. Paying attention...? She shook her head lightly, disturbing the drone of messages within her skull. " In that case, for me, Paying too much attention must shadow the simplicity of life. " It took some effort to be able to drive back the chaos of her thoughts, but only then can one see the world as a whole, not each, individual little particle. She had nothing more to offer about the suicide topic, as it would always remain mystery unless one had understood the exact feeling themselves.
The wind picked up, scattering the breeze, causing her small frame to sway backwards. She braced her legs and brought her head down for balance, it seemed as if this place was offering a warning, perhaps their time here was drawing to an end. As the male described his home, she too closed her eyes...and in this time her mind never ceased to amaze her. Instead of a hurricane of jumbled thoughts, everything organized itself to paint a splendid picture of what he was describing. She could here the life, birds, the faint rustling of multicolored leaves upon branches reaching toward the sun...the subtle lick of water upon the edges of a serene lake...and then it stopped, a jolting friction developed as her mind was flooded once more with nonsense.
" I looks lovely, I do believe I will visit some time. " Her eyes opened once more, glancing around her. " The weather up here is about to turn, I think we have invaded the quiet too long." She shrugged, bringing her haunches back up. This now sparked the innate urge to move on, find something else to experience. She waited a few moments, turning her head to watch the water once more...such a frenzied, giving, crazy thing...perhaps that was beautiful. Her lips twitched into something of a smile.
...but on and on they roll through each moment, night and day. [/blockquote]

The [M]alice in my heart is simply that Malice had no more words he could offer this female. She insisted on making herself seem so much in he dark that she was as blind as her injured eye. Malice could learn to think of something like that as a blessing. No doubtedly it helped her listen more to the things around her. Even as the weather change she kept her calm and passive attitude. Indeed she was a true free roamer, and hopefully she would enjoy the sight of his lands. Malice did not know what kept her moving. Of doing the exact same thing for around a year or so, he was glad to have a permanent place to call home. Too much time away from other wolves could make anyone a bit... well it depended on the wolf really. The lone wolf and the pack wolf, the barrier so thick yet easy to break.
Her words prompted him to raise himself from the cold rocks beneath him. His pads seemed to be feeling better anyway. it was time he returned, no doubt there would already be interesting things going on in his lands even though he had only been gone a short amout of time. That pup, Dew, could find something devious to do on her own. He wondered if she had run into Chained already. So many things in mind, and only one way to answer them, "Then... I look forward to your visit in the near future." He said, stretching slightly. His eyes danced at her ghost of a smile, it almost felt like a rare thing and yet he had not known her but maybe an hour. Shaking such brittle thoughts form his mind, he turned and headed towards his lands. A cold feeling without a soft blanket [[Malice has left the area]]
