in our universe, we know everything as it is. everything is either realistic or unrealistic, based on how we see it. have you ever asked yourself what would happen if the real and unreal collided?
in an alternate universe, they have.
there is a realm called valyrn in which the horses have been granted certain unreal qualities... sometimes they're obvious, sometimes they're harder to spot. you see, the horses here are often born with markings in strange shapes and colours, and some even have mutations like wings or horns. nothing was ever explained and nobeast ever asked, so what is considered strange by some is considered normal by those of valyrn.
wild horses from our universe have found valyrn, as wanderers often find places of myth and legend. they are not aware that they have crossed that invisible boundary, as this realm looks as much like home as anywhere --- but they will never go back. in valyrn, the only way back to normal is through dreams or death.
you'd think there would be no problems, but think again. there are always problems. valyrn's natives have been brought up to believe that their colours and mutations are special and that herds should group themselves by a code of sorts. herd codes are rules for members, such as a herd that only accepts horses with blue markings, or a herd of unicorns-only. the problem comes with the open-minded foreigners.
they come to valyrn thinking that they have arrived in a magical place, and some are surprised by the codes. not all protest, but some just won't shut up! they turn friendly herds against each other and throw indescision and moral debates into what was once a set and honored tradition. these protestors favor herds that accept anybeast, no matter how they look. needless to say, these ideas cause rifts in social life.
the question is this: where do your loyalties lie? are you for changing the status quo, or will you sit back and look at all the pretty horses?
choose your side wisely.
