Elu watched as his new mistress walked off, turning for a moment to Nightingale.
“I have to go, it was nice meeting you. I won’t forget my promise, I promise.” Without another word, he trotted to keep up with the much bigger horse, having some trouble getting through the crowd. He was amazed that he wasn’t hit! Maybe this master would be different from the many others he had had in the past. That would be wonderful, he had to admit.

Nightingale smiled sadly. "Take care, Elu," she whispered. She didn't want Freyja to hear them talking, in case she punished him for wasing time talking to a slave instead of following her. "I hope she'll be a good Mistress to you." The filly watched the black stallion trot away, and struggled to mantain her silence. But she couldn't. There was one last thing she wanted to say in case she never saw Elu again (which was quite probable). "Elu!" Nightingale neighed. She saw she'd attracted the attention of one of the slave hands, who was frowning at her. Nightingale ignored him. "I...- good luck! Remember what I said about dignity!"
And that was it. Elu was gone. Nightingale felt suddenly very alone. He was gone, and now it was her turn.
