for anyone that doesn't know, this is an explanation of how the idea of slavery works on this site.
Generally:
Masters keep slaves for whatever purpose; breeding, beating, whatever. Slaves stay in their land and are forced to do what they say, aren't allowed to leave, etc. It's just like it used to be with people, back in the day, just with horses and wolves. Horses cannot keep wolf slaves, and vice versa. They can, however, be friends/enemies. Free-roamers are just out threre, they're not masters and they're not slaves.
So what do you do?
If you are a SLAVE...You basically go to auction rock, and wait for a master to claim you. You can try to fight or whatever suits the charrie's personality, but it's likely you won't get away. The master then usually takes the slave to their land or breeding grounds and does whatever they want to do with them. Slaves can try to escape, but it the RPer of the master wants them to remain in the herd/pack, their isn't much you can do besides be constantly on the run. But be realistic, you can't have them all run away. You'll likely remain a slave all your life, and your master decides what happens to any foals/pups you may have. They can kill them, sell them, keep them as slaves, or promote them to regular free horses/wolves. You will always be a slave unless your master frees you or they die and you manage to get away.
If you are a MASTER...You can either roam around or claim a land/territory. There is a difference. If you roam, your free to terrorize any other mares, but you cannot personally claim slaves. If you have land, you can do whatever you want. If you have a territory, you can only have three adult slaves at a time, not including foals. So you can claim your land and then expand your herd however you want. You can promote slaves to free horses if you wish, but then they can also leave you. you have control over everything your slave does, and you can SLIGHTLY powerplay. You can sell, trade, try to kill your slaves if you want.
If you are a FREE-ROAMER...Despite the misconception, that doesn't mean you just roam around. It only means your not a master (you don't hold slaves) and your not a slave. You can be a free-roamer and still own land, you just can't keep slaves. Free-roamers can be male or female, makes no difference. Free-roamers can always be taken captive into slavery if they wander into Auction Rock or another master's property, but they can fight back and have a better chance at getting away. They also can decide if they want to be in a herd/pack or not, and roaming animals can leave their herd/pack whenever they choose. Liberty Shores is where free-roaming animals can go to find a herd, or they can claim a land/territory. Remember if you have a territory, you can only have up to three horses/wolves at any time, not including pups. Free-roamers cannot powerplay over one another at all, their equal. They also tend to stay out of slavery. They are the more rebellious ones.
